Do I need any prior fishing experience to book a trip?
No, we can work with anglers of all skillsets. If you would like to learn the basic fundamentals of fishing we can help there, and if you are an experienced angler we can get straight to catching!
What should I bring with me on the fishing trip?
It is a good idea to bring sunscreen, appropriate clothing for weather conditions, food and drinks. Also, if you are over 17 you will need a valid fishing license. All equipment and bait is supplied.
How long do the fishing trips last?
Our typical trips range from ½ day (4 1/2 hours of fishing) to full day (6 1/2 hours). Our morning trips start close to sunrise and 1:30 PM. Our wintertime trophy catfish trips trips are 7 1/2 hours long.
What types of fishing trips do you offer?
We offer trips targeting 'scale' fish which include hybrid, striper, and white bass. We also offer 'eater' catfish trips all year round that will mostly be fish 18 inches and under. Additionally, we offer multi-species trips on our full-day outings that can target scale fish as well as catfish. From November through March, we offer trophy catfish trips where we will target large catfish.
Are food and drinks provided during the trip?
No, you will need to bring your own food and drinks. We will have an iced cooler to keep your items cool.
Is alcohol allowed?
Yes, we do permit consumption of alcoholic beverages on our trips for clients over the legal drinking age.

What is your cancellation policy?
You can cancel your trip any time up to within 24 hours of your set departure and still receive a full refund. If Chums on the Water cancels the trip for any reason and you cannot reschedule, you will be entitled to a refund of your deposit.
Are there any age restrictions for participants?
We are structured to cater to passengers 5 years and older.
Can I book a private trip, or are all trips shared with other groups?
We always book private party trips. Our trips are designed for 1-3 people and you will never have to split the boat with another party or group that is not part of your booking.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept the following payment methods: cash, credit and debit cards, checks, and Venmo.
Is it safe to go on a fishing trip?
As with anything outdoors, fishing and boating has inherent risk. It is our priority to operate in a safe manner but there is always risk involved.
Do I need a fishing license?

What safety measures are in place on your boats?
Our boats follow US Coast Guard as well as Texas Parks and Wildlife requirements for inshore safety equipment. Our boats are equipped with life jackets for each passenger, a throw cushion, horn, fire extinguisher, and a first aid kit.
What should I do if I have a medical condition?
If you are unsure if your medical condition is prohibitive for boating and fishing, we recommend consulting with a medical professional prior to booking your trip.
Can I keep the fish I catch?
You can keep your daily bag limit of legal sized targeted species.
What kind of fish will we be targeting?
Based on the type of trip you book, we will be targeting hybrid, stripers and white bass or catfish. During the months of November through March, we offer 'trophy' catfish trips.
What happens in case of bad weather?
Chums on the Water monitors weather daily and will cancel a trip due to high winds and inclement weather if we feel that we can not operate safely. If a trip is started and cut short due to bad weather, no discount or refund will be given.
Do you provide equipment, or should I bring my own
Chums on the Water will provide all the necessary equipment and bait for your trip. You are welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer.
Are there any environmentally friendly practices I should be aware of during the trip?
We do everything we can to promote a healthy lake and enviroment. Any undersized or non-target species will be released immediately (you are welcome to photograph!). No trash shall ever be thrown overboard. We will supply a place to properly dispose of all trash including fishing line and cigarette butts.
